Welcome House is a faith-based agency serving homeless individuals and families in the Bismarck/Mandan area.  Welcome House provides short-term shelter, assistance in obtaining permanent housing and a variety of supportive services.  Welcome House’s emphasis is on providing extensive case management and other supportive services for up to three years to help clients attain and retain permanent housing.  Welcome House fills a gap in the community by serving homeless that would not otherwise receive shelter, including two-parent families, families headed by single fathers, and families with teen age males.

In May 2004, it was our late founder Lowell Bontjes' dream to shelter homeless women and families after two local shelters lost their family/female emergency and transitional housing.  In June 2004, Welcome House, Inc. became incorporated under the laws of North Dakota as a non-profit organization.  In June 2005, Welcome House received IRS 501(c)3 tax exempt status.
